Shay’s unforgettable wish unfolded into a culinary journey filled with joy, laughter and life‑changing inspiration! From a fun‑filled one‑to‑one session with Aneesh Popat, AKA The Chocolatier, and renowned chef Jean‑Christophe Novelli, Shay got to create everything from chocolate truffles to apple tarte tatin – where he was truly in his element! With his dad by his side, Shay’s magical day had already been extraordinary – but the second part of his wish brought even deeper meaning as he cooked a three‑course meal alongside the visually impaired chef Chris Lord, learning invaluable techniques to help him continue his passion for cooking as his sight deteriorates. The session was recorded so that Shay can revisit the teaching, and he was encouraged by Chris to share his talent with the world. Shay found a new confidence – he now creates weekly cooking videos on Instagram! Both experiences empowered Shay, brought him joy and the lasting belief that his love of cooking can shine no matter what challenges lie ahead for him. Shay’s dad said “We want to thank Pritti and all of the Trustees at Creating Memories for making such an amazing memory for Shay. This day was such a surprise, getting to meet Aneesh Popat the famous Chocolatier and learning how to make such tasty chocolate! To see Shay with a massive smile on his face was a big treat for me, watching him have fun with Aneesh and build an amazing bond with him was truly something. Then the look on Shay’s face when Jean Christophe Novelli walked out was a picture, it was something that I will never forget. Both Aneesh and Chef Novelli made him feel so special, and you achieved something amazing by creating this day that no one else could have done. Shay now compares all his food with Chef Novelli’s food – he grades the presentation! Shay did not have a care in the world on this day.
