Tillie-Mae’s Wish

Wish:

To stay in a safari lodge and get close to Giraffes

When:

July 2026

Where:

Hertfordshire

Description:

Tillie Mae had spent much of the past year in hospital due to complications caused by her condition, San Filippo Syndrome. It had meant she had missed key events, such as her 18th birthday and Christmas, and was adapting to a new way of living that meant she was permanently wheelchair bound and had undergone a period where she could not eat. Eager to get quality time away with family and to belatedly celebrate her milestone birthday, Tillie Mae’s wish was to stay at a safari lodge where she could watch her favourite animal – the giraffe. Thanks to Creating Memories and with additional support from the Love Hatfield charity, Tillie and her family had an overnight stay in a treehouse at Port Lympne Safari Park, complete with a safari ride – and a second special giraffe safari courtesy of the park. Tillie-Mae’s mum said, “What can I say but a huge thank you! Tillie Mae had a wonderful time at Port Lympne. The staff there were amazing and nothing was too much for them, they did everything to make sure Tillie Mae had the best time. The accommodation was perfect and fully met Tillie Mae’s needs. I think the highlight for us all was the close-up safari to see the giraffes and the chilled evening toasting marshmallows and looking over the Kent coastline, hearing all the animals. It was such an amazing wish trip.”
