Lennon’s Wish

Wish:

To watch a match at Watford Football Club

When:

April 2024

Where:

Hertfordshire

Description:

Lennon, 17, has a hypoplastic left heart – he has one pump and uses up more energy doing things, meaning he tires easily. He originally came to Creating Memories with a request to go to Nando’s with his mum and sister, wanting to celebrate his independence now he no longer uses a feeding tube. But after going to the restaurant with his friends, we wanted to see what else we could do for him. Lennon is a huge fan of Watford FC, but had never seen a live match…Lennon was invited to attend a training session and had a kick around with the players, before being asked to be a mascot on match day. He was given the latest kit, a tour of the club and got to walk onto the pitch with his favourite player, the goalkeeper, who also gave him his signed gloves, before Lennon watched the game with his family. “Thank you all so very much for making Lennon’s wish come true by making the time he spent at the training ground and match day such a memorable experience. Every player went out of their way to make it so special for Lennon. He is over the moon and is still on a massive high from the amazing time he has had. This is the first match Lennon has been able to attend due to difficulty accessing the stadium, but you all made it possible. When times are difficult for Lennon we can look back and cherish these moments. What really warms my heart is that everyone was so kind and genuine, and everything was done with care for my son.”
