Ethan’s Wish
Ethan's Wish

Wish:

To meet players from ice hockey team the MK Lightnings

When:

June 2026

Where:

Buckinghamshire

Description:

Ethan, 5, is bed bound and living with Batten Disease, an extremely rare condition that means he is on oxygen 24/7 and has regular seizures. He is non-verbal, and his condition’s prognosis means that he is nearing the end of his life. Ethan’s wish was to have a meet and greet and a family photo taken with the MK Lightnings ice hockey team. Players #4 Archie Salisbury and #71 Harry Gulliver came to meet Ethan and his family at Planet Ice. The players posed for photographs in the player dressing room and on the ice, before gifting the family jerseys, signed photographs and a hockey puck to keep as a memento of the day. The team also invited Ethan and family back to watch a team training session in the new season if he is well enough. Ethan’s mum said “Thank you so much for making Ethan’s wish so special. From the moment we arrived, we felt incredibly welcome, and the MK Lightning players were so kind, patient, and generous with their time. Meeting them, taking photos, and going out onto the ice was an unforgettable experience for our family. They went above and beyond to make it meaningful, from helping Ethan onto the ice to spending time playing with his brother Logan and signing shirts and photos. We know Ethan enjoyed being there—he loves the cold, and being on the ice clearly comforted him. It meant the world to our family and is something we will never forget. Thank you again for making such special memories for Ethan.”
