Trey’s Wish

Wish:

To meet Garage duo Oxide and Neutrino

When:

May 2026

Where:

Buckinghamshire

Description:

12-year-old Trey has undergone significant life changes within the last year, after being taken to hospital with suspected norovirus. After lots of tests and investigations, Trey was diagnosed with heart failure and dilated cardiomyopathy. Trey had to spend four weeks on ECMO (heart and lung support) before undergoing a heart transplant, which was clinically successful. However, following the operation, he experienced severe complications, including the loss of function in his legs. His recovery was further impacted when it was identified that his lungs were also not functioning as expected. Further investigations then revealed that Trey has a rare genetic muscular disorder, for which there is currently no cure. Despite further surgery, Trey has now been informed that he will be permanently wheelchair bound. Despite everything he has been through, Trey is an extremely funny, resilient, and engaging young man with a real passion for music – in particular, nineties garage music, and his wish was to meet Oxide & Neutrino, the English DJ and MC garage duo he admires. Thanks to Creating Memories and the organisers of Tryfest, Trey and his family were invited to attend the festival to meet the duo and watch them perform their set from the side of the stage. After chatting with Trey and his family, posing for photographs, and signing a treasured CD, Oxide & Neutrino treated Trey and the crowd to a blistering hour-long set, complete with song dedications and shout outs to Trey – even handing him the smoke gun to fire at one point, which topped an extra special experience for the young man. Trey’s mum said “We honestly can’t thank everyone enough for what was done for Trey. The whole experience felt so personal, thoughtful, and truly centred around him from beginning to end. We felt supported and reassured every step of the way. Seeing Trey so engaged, singing along, and being included in the performance meant everything to us. Even though he was tired afterwards, he was so happy, and that’s something we’ll always cherish. The artists were incredible—so kind, compassionate, and genuinely invested in making Trey feel special. The team on the day also gave us such reassurance, especially with the care taken around his needs. This experience exceeded all of our expectations, and we are so grateful for the memories created. It meant more to us than words can express. Thank you for making Trey’s wish so special.” Oxide & Neutrino’s manager said “The guys are thankful for you reaching out and giving them the opportunity to show their appreciation to a special fan. They enjoyed him being there and experiencing them performing live.”
