Hamza’s Wish

Hamza really wanted to understand the print process of publishing books and to own a printed copy of his very own robot story.

October 2018

Hamza and his family arrived at local printers Swan Print, where he was given a special tour and shown how the lithographic printer works. The tour finished with Hamza being presented with a copy of his very own book – and a life size Dalek coming around the corner to greet him…Hamza and his family were taken aback on seeing the Dalek, and Hamza was so happy with his printed book that he asked if he could also print his next book once finished! The family were then given a postcode and asked to head to a secret location – Rogan’s Books, where Hamza’s book was displayed in prime position in the shop window, alongside other robot books and toys. Inside they were also greeted by big posters promoting his book…because Hamza was about to have his very own book launch! Hamza signed copies of his book (and sold some too!), cut into a robot cake and enjoyed some of his favourite foods to celebrate the occasion. The wish had one final and unexpected magic touch thrown in, after another local boy heard about Hamza and decided to gift his life size Meccano robot to him. Thank you to the following local businesses who kindly donated their products, time and services to help make this wish come true, including Rogan Books, Swan Print, La Fontana, Limes of Bedford, Kallkwik Bedford and Michael R Peters.
